Gretchen has extensive experience in representing businesses and financial institutions in transactional matters as well as before the Maine Legislature, members of Congress, federal financial regulators and state agencies. She also represents individuals and business entities in business succession and transition planning, and mergers and acquisitions. Her expertise encompasses serving as general outside counsel; governance; regulatory compliance; finance; charter conversions; and reorganizations. She is a frequent speaker on a variety of legal issues including financial services regulatory matters and business planning. Representative groups include America’s Credit Unions ; Maine Bankers Association; Maine Credit Unions’ Compliance Council; Chambers of Commerce and state Credit Union Leagues.
Gretchen is admitted to practice in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the District of Columbia. She is a member and the former Chair of the Maine Bar Association’s Consumer and Financial Institution Law Section and is also a member of the Maine Bar Association’s Business Law Section. She is listed in Best Lawyers in America® in the practice areas of Banking and Finance Law and Financial Services Regulation Law and was named the “Portland, Maine Best Lawyers Financial Services Regulation Law Lawyer of the Year” for 2012.
