Eaton Peabody Names Michael A. Hodgins as Managing Partner

The Maine-based law firm of Eaton Peabody is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael A. Hodgins as its new Managing Partner, effective October 1, 2024.

After 12 years of dedicated service, David M. Austin steps down, having led the firm through a period of significant strategic growth and development. Under Austin’s leadership, Eaton Peabody expanded its client base and cemented its reputation as one of Maine’s most respected law firms. David will return to the full-time practice of law dedicated to advising clients with general corporate and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, as well as serving as general counsel to numerous Maine corporations including large institutional clients as well as closely held Maine businesses.

Reflecting on his tenure, David Austin stated: “It has been a privilege to serve as Managing Partner of Eaton Peabody for the past 12 years. I’ve worked with an outstanding team of professionals, and together we’ve navigated many challenges while upholding our commitment to providing exceptional legal services to our clients in Maine and beyond. I am confident that Mike is the right person to lead this firm forward.”

Mike Hodgins, the incoming Managing Partner, expressed his enthusiasm for the new role: “I am deeply humbled by the trust placed in me by my colleagues and excited to build on the legacy left by David and others before him. Eaton Peabody has long been committed to serving people and businesses with legal challenges from our multiple offices here in Maine, and I look forward to leading the firm in its next chapter. Together, we will continue to innovate, adapt, and deliver the high level of service our clients expect and deserve.”

Prior to his election as Managing Partner, Hodgins served in leadership roles on several firm committees, and was a litigator and advisor focused on the construction industry, and for municipal or other governmental entities. He will continue to represent clients in these areas, as well as serving as a neutral in his mediation practice, while serving as Managing Partner.
