The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has announced that it is changing a number of the trademark filing fees effective January 1, 2017. The fee for filing an application through the electronic system at the Trademark Office website, which is one of the most commonly paid fees, will be increased from $325.00 per class currently to $400.00 per class under the new schedule. Another common fee, paid for electronically filing the Affidavit of Use required in the sixth and tenth years after registration, will be increased from $100.00 to $125.00 per class. There will be a reduction of $25.00 in the fee for electronically filing a request for additional time to make a first use in intent-to-use applications.
